Elida Garcia

Elida is a self-taught artist based in Portland, Oregon. Her practice is rooted in a deep fascination with natural law and light. Through the isolation and preserving of botanical structures, textures, and color fields — Elida invites viewers to contemplate the networks and flows that bind nature and people alike.

In the Monstera Series, Elida meticulously skeletonizes monstera deliciosa leaves by hand, revealing the intricate vascular networks that sustain life. She celebrates the life of each delicate leaf by preserving them within a color field rendered in soft pastels. Elida creates work that exists on the intersection of scientific observation and abstract expressionism. Her color palette and compositional sensibility draw from her travels and Native Mexican American roots.

Inspired by her childhood nickname, Elida opened Lili Goat Studio in 2024 to explore botanical design. This opened up many freelancing opportunities as a floral designer in her first year. Elida continues to freelance in Portland while exploring the visual language of nature, transforming fleeting organic matter into lasting meditations on pattern, impermanence, and interconnection.
